Terms of Service

By downloading, installing, or using Sidebar Pro (the "Software"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Software.

What you get

A license to install and run Sidebar Pro on macOS for the scope you purchased — single-event, weeklong-event, or ongoing — with all features and all supported hardware integrations enabled. Licenses include every update published during your license window.

What we provide as a service

Sidebar Pro relays audio and video through LiveKit Cloud (or self-hosted LiveKit, at your option). We don't record, store, or inspect the content of sessions on our servers. Recording happens locally on your machine and stays there. See Privacy.

What you're responsible for

  • Complying with local laws governing recording, consent, broadcast, and interpretation in your venue and jurisdiction.
  • Securing any Dante, network, or venue audio infrastructure you route through Sidebar Pro.
  • Licensing third-party components you use alongside Sidebar Pro (Dante Virtual Soundcard, NDI SDK, capture hardware drivers).
  • Keeping your download of the Software to your licensed use only — don't redistribute or share licenses.

What we don't promise

The Software is provided "as-is" without warranty of any kind. We don't guarantee uninterrupted service, specific latency numbers, compatibility with every hardware permutation, or suitability for any particular event or regulatory context. You're the professional running the event; we're the tool.

Liability

Our total liability for any claim related to the Software is capped at the amount you paid for the license in the 12 months preceding the claim. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — lost revenue, event disruption, reputational loss — to the extent permitted by law.

Termination

Your license ends at the end of its window (24 hours, 7 days, or the term of your custom install plan). We can terminate a license for breach of these terms; you can stop using the Software at any time.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States. Disputes are resolved in the state and federal courts sitting in Multnomah County, Oregon.

Privacy

Short version: we don't want your data. The Software runs on your machine; audio flows through LiveKit; session recordings stay on your disk. Here's the long version.

What we collect

  • Crash reports. When the macOS app crashes, MetricKit writes an anonymized diagnostic payload to your local Library directory. If you opt in (via the system's standard share-crash-reports flow), a redacted copy is uploaded for us to debug. We don't receive any audio, video, identities, or room content.
  • Telemetry. The Software sends a small fire-and-forget event on connect, disconnect, and failure, containing: a random per-install instance ID, the app version, the event type, and (optionally) the room name. No mic data, no participant identities, no content. You can disable telemetry in Settings.
  • Contact forms. When you email us at hello@sidebarpro.app, we receive the address and message you send. We reply to it. We don't add you to a marketing list.

What we don't collect

  • Audio, video, or transcripts of any session.
  • Participant identities, IP addresses, or location data.
  • Your listener audience's personal data. Listeners join via URL; their browsers handle WebRTC negotiation with LiveKit directly.

Third parties we rely on

  • LiveKit. Media relay. livekit.io/privacy. If you self-host LiveKit, this link doesn't apply to you.
  • Vercel. Hosts this website, the token-signing API, and the operator dashboard. vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
  • Neon. Serverless Postgres holding a telemetry events table. neon.tech/privacy-policy.

Session recordings

The macOS app records each connected session to ~/Movies/Sidebar Pro Recordings/ on your local disk, as three WAV files (translator mic, stage feed, listener mix). These files never leave your machine. You can disable recording in Settings → Advanced.

Your rights

You can request deletion of any telemetry data tied to your install — email hello@sidebarpro.app with your instance ID (visible in Settings). We'll process the deletion within 30 days.

Refund Policy

14-day no-event-yet refund

If you haven't run an event against a purchased license, you can request a full refund within 14 days of purchase. No questions asked. Email hello@sidebarpro.app with your purchase email.

After an event has been run

Licenses are consumed when used. If something went wrong during your event that was our fault — the token service was down, a shipped bug corrupted recordings, the auto-updater bricked mid-session — get in touch and we'll issue a credit or refund on a case-by-case basis. We want you to come back.

Custom-install plans

Refunds on ongoing / enterprise plans are governed by the specific agreement signed at contract time, not this policy.
